Performances by:

Ladies of Midnight Blue are an Afro-Latin percussion & brass duet comprised of Hannabiell Sanders (Bass Trombone, African & Latin Percussion, Mbira) and Yilis del Carmen Suriel (African & Latin Percussion, Mbira). They create a powerful and upbeat fusion of trance drum rhythms that produce a melodic percussive sound by weaving combinations of percussion, brass, vocal chants, and mbira.

Baque de Ogun a Maracatu band celebrating the unique culture, history and heritage of ‘Maracatu Nação’, an Afro-Brazilian performance genre from North East Brazil also known as Baque Virado [turned beat]. The name ‘Nação’ reflects the African and tribal heritage of the tradition.

Rapasa a singer, songwriter, a multi instrumentalist and a contemporary dancer. He plays several indigenous instruments of Kenya such as the nyatiti, adungu, nyangile, poko/peke, obokano, oporo and ongeng’o amongst others. However his principle instrument is the nyatiti, an eight-string lyre from the Lüō community from the western part of Kenya.

Harambee Pasadia Afro Fusion Arts Festival takes place Thursday 30th May until Sunday 2nd June at TCR Hub in Barnard Castle.
