Armstrong Allotments provide an oasis in urban Heaton. The gardens lie in the midst of Newcastle’s bustling East End. During 2017, Armstrong Allotment Association celebrated its centenary year.

You are invited to enter into this ‘secret garden’ to find out what the growers and characters were up to in the 100th year of the Association. Walk through the seasons in a horticultural adventure, experience words of wisdom, a huge variety of produce, a bit of history and some riveting events where competition is fierce.

This story is told in the words of the plot holders, the committee members and the local community itself. Filmed throughout the year, the documentary reveals unique insights into gardening, highlighting passions, joy and inspirations.

Director: Nick Ward,

Duration: 54 minutes

There will be two screenings of the film, the first from 6pm-7pm, the second from 8pm to 9pm.

This event is free but please make sure to book the correct ticket for the screening you would like to attend.

There will be drinks available to buy from the star and shadow bar all night, and free light refeshments will be served between screenings.
