On March 29th 2019, the UK will (might) officially leave the European Union. Not content with a commemorative 50p coin, club night Municipal have decided instead to mark the occasion with a night of subversive techno.

A 90 minute live performance from JK FLESH, followed by a 2 hour DJ set from REGIS.

Karl O’Conner aka REGIS has been challenging and disrupting the techno scene for 25 years. From his earlier years establishing Downwards Records and defining the Birmingham techno sound, to later chapters as part of the Sandwell District collective and as one half of British Murder Boys; Karl has always worked at the bleeding edge of techno. A true pioneer, his precise and hypnotic sound has directly inspired so much of the techno that is being released today, yet he’s remained consistent and honest in his approach. Karl’s uncompromising and unconventional style in both his production and label choices mean that he remains a highly regarded, creative force within techno.

Across his three decade music career, Justin Broadrick has spanned genres, but his own unique sound is instantly recognisable across them all. Few would argue that he was a chief architect of industrial metal, beginning with Napalm Death and then continuing with the internationally successful Godflesh. In his JK FLESH productions, he skilfully melds his industrial heritage with the dance floor framework of techno, delivering serrated patterns, tearing distortion, and propulsive rhythms. But JK FLESH is more than ‘hard’ techno – it’s emotional. His most recent and highly rated LP, New Horizon, released late in 2018 on Speedy J’s label Electric Deluxe, is fierce but also thoughtful and rewarding. We’re anticipating Justin’s live performance to be every bit as exceptional.
