9 Beet Stretch is Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th symphony digitally stretched to 24 hours, with no pitch distortions by Oslo-based artist Leif Inge.
This 24-hour live performance starts at midnight on Thu 1 March (as at the end of the day on Thursday) and ends at midnight on Fri 2 March (as at the end of the day on Friday).

Leif Inge chose Beethoven's Ninth because of its canonical status, but also because ''there is a lot of sound in it, a lot going on.'' (quoted in the New York Times)
About the experience: “Yes, it is contemplative, but it is also demanding. It demands your time, it demands your space, it demands your attention.”
"This trance feeling, letting the sound just go on without trying to expect anything, is really the way to listen to it. You get away from the idea of music having a definite start and a definite end.''

"It provides hours of eerie ambient textures; it turns something wearyingly familiar into something you can barely recognize; and like Steve Reich's Come Out, Carl Stone's Shing Kee,and some other electroacoustic classics, it reveals acoustic truths you never suspected. Fantastic idea. What'll Inge do for an encore?" - THE VILLAGE VOICE

You can come and go, or stay the whole night and following day immersing in this epic and ethereal deep listening experience.
The performance will be taking place in the bar space in the cinema, and we will make the space as cosy as possible (with sofas, rugs, etc).
You might want to bring along your sleeping bags…
