As the decendents of the Conquistadors rule California with brutal oppression a hero emerges from the shadows, to right wrongs and fight injustice, leaving behind only The Mark Of Zorro
Though many of the production techniques are quite primitive and the swordplay is perfunctory at best the stunts are expertly performed (spectacular leaps up, off and over things in particular) and the humour is cute, Douglas Fairbanks did not exactly have matinee idol good looks but his physical prowess is undeniable and this film reinvigorated his flagging career as well as setting a new benchmark for the development of action packed adventure entertainment
