Extreme Energy In The North East; Should We Be Fractose Intolerant?

In North East England, licences have already been issued for off-shore Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) , a highly experimental form of extracting gas that has  been forced to close due to environmental pollution in numerous global experiments.   What will be the impact on the north? What will happen if this comes on-shore?

Frack Off will present a talk on Fracking, UCG and other forms of extreme energy. What are they? How do they work?  What have the environmental impacts been when used elsewhere?

We will then be showing a short Australian film Gas War, about the impact of unconventional gas on communities and how these communities have fought back.

This will be followed by a discussion on how we in Newcastle can campaign to prevent the use of UCG and fracking in the "desolate North".

This event is free, although any donations for Frack Free Tyne and Wear would be gratefully received.
