In search of the Exotic Gypsy

The film is an exploration of urban Greek Gypsy culture and identity. It follows the filmmaker’s journey to various Gypsy settlements in Athens , at the eve of the Olympic Games 2004. From poor settlements to more wealthy Romany Gypsy households, the film depicts the everyday life of various Gypsy clans. Maryo, Eleftheria, Nikos and Yiota share their aspirations and anxieties about the future.Bahtalo (translated to “Fortune”)

A story about coffee and fortune: Eleftheria is famous in her neighborhood as a professional coffee fortune-teller, but she has run out of the Greek coffee needed to read the fortune of the filmmaker. The two women set out to find coffee for fortune telling.
Both films were shown at many festivals in Greece and Europe. Electra Bada is a young promising Greek filmmakers who studied Ethnographic Film in Edinburgh.
7.30pm - A surprise/much loved film. This is a touching, unusual, sad, romantic, and in a way educational drama about the underlying conflicts between the Greeks and the Turks.
9.30pm - MUSIC: Olympias Farm
Made of Greek musicians, Olympias Farm plays Greek popular music, known as “rebetiko”. It comprises four instruments and 2 vox. Bouzouki, Guitar, Tubeleki (Percussion), and 2nd guitar.
