A departure from our traditional cabaret format for Mimosa Clubs to extend the form. We’re really excited about The Star and Shadow Cinema which has to be one of the most exciting new arts buildings in the North East - we’re in for an exciting atmosphere.
Tom Shakespeare and Topsy Qu’ret present a live art performance of FALLING AND LAUGHING, Girl Jonah present dance art duet THIS TWO, internationally acclaimed Giovanna Maria Casetta presents live film and performance LOOKING GOOD and much sought after North East writer Sean Burn presents Digital Art Performance TATTOOING LORCA. Cutting edge work and more treats on the night. Programmed as part of The Mimosa Festival celebrating the cultural equality of Disabled people in the arts.

The Mimosa Festival
arcadea is holding the mimosa festival throughout the month of September aimed at celebrating the artistic equality of disabled people across a range of venues and artforms, including Dance Art and Film at Dance City, Film, Theatre, An Evening of Divine Disabled Divas and The Metamorphosis Ball at The Sage Gateshead, Visual Art at both the AdHoc Gallery, Buddle Arts Centre and The Mushroom Works, Ouseburn, and an innovative programme of liver art performance, live film performance, dance art and poetry at The Star and Shadow Cinema.
The festival is part of a wider mission to re-position the cultural status of Disabled people and as well as a the artistic programme there is a programme of workshops and seminars. All artistic programme will be BSL interpreted, wheelchair accessible and information will be available in a range of formats eg Braille, large print, audio, on disc, text only
