Two Films, Live Music
Tonight, special night with two films around this obscure genius.
A filmic homage with a live soundtrack from the excellent Newcastle based band Helictite (avant industrial noise collective)…
…and the legendary short film Towers Open Fire (1963, 16 min, photo right), a film Burroughs made with Anthony Balch. Towers Open Fire is an “assault on linear narrative and good taste, and brings together readings by Burroughs, unrelated film sequences, and the pervasive image of Brion Gysin's prototype Dreamachine - inducer of hallucinations and mental stimulation.” (from Tate Museum website)
A night of alternative music and rarely seen films on this enigmatic genius.
