featuring classic soviet era sci-fi and hosting the return of the "film in a weekend" project, this weekender is packed with obscure and exclusive entertainment…
Working under the totalitarian soviet regime meant burdensome restrictions being placed on filmmakers thoughout the period resulting in many dull party line productions. But a few truly creative individuals managed to squeeze incredible production value from the meagre resources available, a couple even managed to slip in some progressive deviant ideas questioning the status quo. But while not every director can be Andrei Tarkovsky there are still a handful of original, unique and entertaining movies which are practically unkown in the west. Here we celebrate those individuals and films that stepped off the mother planet for the good of all mankind.
