AUFGEHOBEN

This legendary guitar-based noise band are at the extreme outside limits of psychedelic rock, with a metallic core of harsh industrial noise.

Maniacal guitar/electronics/drum free-form escapades with a hint of psych rock groove.

Gary Smith's quartet brings two drum kits, electronics and guitar and hurls harsh noise and free skronk at each other through a huge collider 6 miles under the ground.

In the Star&Shadow's bar, with the added disorientation of their projected visuals, this will be overwhelming.

REVIEWS

The Wire

As The Wire said of their 'Messidor' album, "Only the drums create any recognisable sounds. Guitars are assaulted in a fulgurating unplaying that wrests any and every sound from them except that of a guitar.

Against this taut steel ballet of wire and feedback is the futter and fuming of electronics, stone, paper and more. These recordings try to cage sounds beyond conventional description and on the brink of possible listening."

Peter Marsh, BBC Experimental

“If you know what Francis Bacon did to Velazquez’s portrait of Pope Innocent X, then you’ll have some idea of what Aufgehoben are doing to rock music; reducing it to a violent, nightmarish smear of a thing. It’s cathartic, ugly, beautiful and hard to ignore.”
