Ariel Pink is on tour in Europe! All the way from California to the Star and Shadow Cinema...

What can we say that has not already been said in music press?

Facts-wise, his albums have been released on Paw Tracks by Animal collective who think he is something else, as do we.

In fact in a way they have done with Ariel Pink the same that Bonny Prince billy has done for Alistair Roberts - found someone they think is super special and got that stuff out there on their own label.

Ariel's sound is washed out, taped up, melodic beauty with sad and happy lyrics. His music sounds like early Ween with a hint less of the puerile, and a hint more of the dreamy androgenous boy who can't relate to mainstream gender and power expectations.

All we can say is we are not music promoters, but we want this to happen in the Star and Shadow.

The music is gorgeous and beautiful stemming from a lovely individual's mind and soul, with lots of synth and reverb and muted beats.

Ghostly, spectral (Derrida's term 'hauntology has been applied to Ariel) and like Love (californian Psych band) mixed with Kate Bush, Ween and DIY ideals. Language has SUCH limits.

Lots of love to you if you come to this. We need 70 people to cover travel and stuff. It's like that.

You’re unlikely to get many chances to see this band in action, and it’s a miracle we’ve managed to book them at all, as it’s all been so last minute.

And as if that wasn’t enough, we’re happy to announce that they will be supported by none other than Newcastle’s own SDF Collective, as well as Hapsburg Braganza and Enoma (who have recently played at the Road to Rimini All-Dayer to great reactions).
