STAR & SHADOW & PRMNT VIBES Present a night of scuffed up and boundary pushing DIY.

In the midst of what must be an absurdly diverse (and big) Brooklyn music scene, Andrea Ambro and Sarah Register shred some of the most tense and noisy DIY pop as TALK NORMAL (http://www.myspace.com/talknormaltalknormal).

Like some inverted Yeah Yeah Yeahs or early Sonic Youth cassette left in the sun, they specialized in powerful and distorted guitars with a proclivity for sudden rhythmic changes and off-kilter harmonies. And if their latest album Sugarland is anything go by, their keen to mess with expectations as well; it’s anything but saccharine, all no-wavey and Lydia Lunch-recalling, riding similar American ideals as U.S.

Girls and Pocahaunted with guitar-wailage skills akin to Marnie Stern or Vivian Girls.

Newcastle's CHIPPEWA FALLS (http://www.myspace.com/chippewafalls) ride a Sonic Youth/Built To Spill-y wave of 90's indie rock, sometimes palm muted and elsewhere mega distorted with a touch of low/harsh Northeast light.

FOOT HAIR (http://www.myspace.com/foothair) are a Newcastle/Durham-based five-piece that take gnarled sonics marginally too far with their grunged out perhaps post-hardcore(?) heavies.

Combine that with a taste for West Coast esoterica and DIY scruffiness, their super-distorted anti-garage is incessant and weird.
