Four years have passed since the journey on the Road to Rimini began. From humble beginnings in a small, cramped, smoky basement bar to the dizzying heights of the Star & Shadow Cinema... four years and forty parties later the Fratelli Di Rimini have reached the end of the road.
But don’t despair, wipe that tear from your eye… the Fratelli don’t plan to leave under the cover of night in silence… no freakin’ way man!
Under the cover of night, but with the finest PA in the North, the Road To Rimini will rise above much wailing and gnashing of teeth, to host a fine finale in a last ditch attempt to bring the jack back!
Finishing more or less where it all began, the Fratelli Di Rimini have invited back a couple of acts who pretty much define musically what the Road To Rimini has been about – Holland’s finest, Legowelt and TLR.
Appearing at Rimini’s second only outing at the Star and Shadow (way back on the night of sevens) Legowelt, aka Danny Wolfers, makes a welcome return to the Toon. But before we get too choked up recalling the salad days, let's not forget that Danny’s live sets and productions are now more relevant than ever. Prolific as ever (releasing under twenty plus monikers) Danny is still serving up some the choicest cuts of house/techno/electro/ambient/acid/funk that Holland has to offer. With recent releases on Crème Organisation (the outstanding Vatos Locos LP and Gardens of the Ghetto EP), his own Strange Life label, Bunker, Clone and Minimal Rome, Danny is someone who does not rest easy, and come the 20th he'll be packing up his machines and flying over from the west coast of Holland with only one intention - to make you jackers scream!
Making his third and final appearance at a Rimini night will be DJ TLR - head honcho of one of the great Dutch electronix labels, Crème Organisation. TLR is a man who knows his music, and how to get the dance floor going, be it electro, acid, house, disco, past or future classics TLR will be digging deep to ensure that no one is left standing still. If you’ve not caught TLR before miss this last opportunity at your own peril!
Completing the bill will be two of Newcastle’s most respected deejays Tony (Suono) Daly & Justin Mills. For locals Tony and Justin need no introduction, but for the uninitiated these two were residents at one of the finest techno/electro nights in Newcastle - Reverb - where they warmed up for the likes of Carl Craig, Baby Ford, DJ Bone.... the list goes on. It'll be a rare outing to hear these two together and worth the entrance fee alone.
