Endless Race with special guests

Endless Race are back at the Star & Shadow cinema on Saturday May 14th, , as part of the Late Shows, with no less than two superb guests, Gatto Fritto (DJ) and Jamie Blanco (Live), to pick up where we left off after the success of our first party in February, where we hosted Bill Brewster.

ABOUT GATTO FRITTO

Gatto Fritto is Ben Williams and Ben Williams is Gatto Fritto. Andrew Weatherall and Harvey champion his tracks. So do we, and we’ve been listening closely since hearing his inimitable ‘Invisible College’ track on Dissident Records back in 2007.

He’s finally got an album out now on the prestigious International Feel recordings that you might be tempted to describe as a mixture of cosmic disco, Balearic or even synth pop but we’re not getting muddled up in that. The fact is, it’s utterly sublime and been well worth the wait – it’s an odyssey of brilliance.

ELECTRONIC ODDITIES

Not only is Ben one of the most talented electronic music producers in the UK, but a superb DJ to match. Bringing a selection of disco, house and other eighties oddities electronic or otherwise to Endless Race, collected over the past 15 years or so whilst working for various second hand record shops around London (safe to say he knows a thing or two about DJing then), your dancing needs will be lavishly indulged at the next Endless Race.

We’re certainly not alone in acknowledging the man’s plentiful talents, with a string of DJ dates across Europe and other fine nights in the UK such as Bad Passion and Lowlife he’s a bit busy. This is his first appearance in Newcastle, don’t miss out.

+LIVE PERFORMANCE: JAMIE BLANCO

If that wasn’t enough, we’re equally excited to have a live performance from another extremely talented, if as yet under-acknowledged London based producer to get things kick started on the night.

You’d be forgiven for not having heard of Jamie Blanco with only a limited single released to date on Russell Club records, but it’s that damn good, as are oodles of his unreleased tracks on soundcloud that we thought we’d ask if he did a live set. Luckily he said yes, and will be bringing his gloriously rich all-analogue house sound to Newcastle in May.

So there you have it. A DJ set, a live set, and, of course, Endless Race’s resident DJs will be warming you up and winding you down in what promises to be another great party, at a brilliant and friendly venue, with a top notch sound system that’s clear as well as loud, and no posing.
