ENDLESS RACE (Late Shows closing party):
Soft Rocks (ESP Institute)
+ WARM UP in the Tanners
+ 2nd room £8/£6 with a late shows glowstick
Once again, Endless Race are doing the closing party for the wonderful Late Shows and are very excited to welcome: Soft Rocks, a 4-man DJ collective from Brighton (of which we’ll be hosting 2: Andy Sims and Chris Galloway), just back from their incredibly well received tour of Japan.
Having always been avid record collectors (and running their own music store Pure Pleasure Music along the way) these guys have amassed a formidable collection of dance music beyond the obvious and out of the ordinary. We'll be looking forward to some of the jaw-droppingly good African stuff featured on their recent mixes next to the dustiest disco, best in house, boogie, reggae and other leftfield jams. But most of all we cant wait to hear them playing records aimed at a room full of dancing people, something mix tapes can't quite capture.
Did we mention that they also produce records and have an album 'The Curse of Soft Rocks' OUT NOW on the legendary DJ Lovefingers ESP Institute, with remixes from Andrew Weatherall, Cos/Mes, Mudd and Ray Mang among others?
They've been responsible for all sorts of dance floor oddities and gems over the years and remixed among others MGMT, Discosessions, Beautiful Swimmers and Runaway. And, as always, this party will take place in what is by far the best, nicest, friendliest, unpretentious venue in town, for those who value a clubbing experience that isn’t dictated by the standards of city centre nightclubs.
This is a Party rather than a Clubnight. They even have the gentlest door staff you’ll ever meet. I’ll keep schtum now and let their mixes do the talking.
Please check these out, and don’t forget to play them at home as you’re knocking back the pre-party drinks, warming up for real thing:

+ Warm up at the Star & Shaodow from Endless Race resident, Patrick “Tashless Pat” Belcher.
WARM UP IN THE TANNERS -----------------------
Endless Race resident Pat Mandu and Joel ‘Slabs of the Tabernacle’ Shaw will be playing in the Tanners from 7.30pm to get you warmed up and in the mood for a party.
ROOM 2: MUSIC + ANIMATIONS ---------------------------
The second room is by no means marginal on this night. It’s where you can go to have a quiet rest, reflect on your life and on the meaning of dancing, or just make out with someone in the back row. But most importantly, it’s where you go to hear some more incredible tunes and gawk in wonder.
Tonight it’ll be used to showcase two of Newcastle’s most eclectic music connoisseurs, Pete Evans (NWAVI), who's previously had music released on Ninja Tunes, and Richard Dawson, as well as some very rare experimental animation, which we can’t advertise here for copyright reasons, but which you won’t encounter anywhere else in Newcastle. It’s what makes this cinema special.
So, some of the best DJs in the main room, great music in the second room + experimental animation, plus a warm up in a pub known for it’s patronage of good dance music, plus friendly atmosphere, plus lovely people – what more could you ask for?
Saturday 19 May 11pm – very very late £8 on the door, or £6 pound with a Late Shows glowstick (which are very easy to come by).
