‘30 Odd Years’ after Subway Sect were formed to play the 100 Club Punk Festival, London in September 1976, the September 2014 formation featuring Vic Godard (Vocals/Guitar), Mark Braby (Bass), Kevin Younger (Keyboards/Guitar), Yusuf B’ layachi (Guitar) and guest Sexual Object Ian Holford (Drums) takes the Subway Sect ’30 Odd Years’ tour to the Star and Shadow Cinema for what promises to be a memorable fourth ‘Children Of Godard’ night in Newcastle dedicated to the influenced and influences of ‘The Greatest Living Englishman’, Vic Godard.

Their long-held belief that a good idea played badly is better than a bad idea played well, spurred them into action; Rob Symmons (Guitar), a founding member of the original version of Subway Sect, the indisputable William Lewington IV (Drums), his Imperial Highness Matthew Karas (Bass) and the Reverend Rob Green (Singer) who built himself a reputation at Bernie Rhodes’ legendary Club Left. The Fallen Leaves hatred of one another is intense; but it is out of this creative conflict that pop music played with passion rather than precision is born.

On the week of Charlie’s 13th Birthday, he makes a terrible discovery that brings him closer to his father. Filled with shock, he decides not to tell anyone and becomes immersed in a forgotten world that he doesn’t want to leave. This is an intimate portrayal of a father and son’s relationship. Soundtrack by Vic Godard & Subway Sect.

VIC GODARD: WORK IN PROGRESS (Martyn Smith 2014, 20 mins)
The 7th of May 1977 was a very special day for Scottish music. The White Riot tour rolled into Edinburgh and a generation of musicians got the chance to see Subway Sect for the very first time.
This short film looks at Vic Godard's enduring influence on Scottish music and features 'Vic-ism' a weekend of events celebrating his legacy in Glasgow. As well as interviews with Vic Godard, Sexual Objects' Davy Henderson and Creeping Bent's Douglas MacIntyre, the film features performances from Vic, backed by the Sexual Objects and an appearance by legendary Orange Juice guitarist James Kirk.
