Waheela and Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings have joined forces to bring you GNAW 4. The Great Northern Amplifier Worship is in its fourth year and its last year at the Star and Shadow in its current location, so no expense has been spared to bring you the best GNAW yet. Six incredible artists, one phenomenal DJ and the best venue in Newcastle. GNAW 4 is here!

The Wounded Kings

The Wounded Kings is a doom metal band from Dartmoor, England formed in 2005. They uphold Britain’s occult heritage and aim to produce a unique blend of spectral doom and psychedelic horror with a desolate end of the world vibe filled with suffocating heaviness. Hallmarks are eerie choirs, pianos and the use of space within the slow and... mind-bending riffs.

Sunwølf

Hailing from Leeds, Sunwølf create some of the most atmospheric and slow burning instrumental heaviness that you are likely to hear. Supporting a range of artists from Ufomammut, Chelsea Wolfe to Forest Swords, they have built a formidable reputation as one of the most versatile and engaging bands in the post-rock/metal style. Although taking a break from live shows to focus on new material, Sunwølf are making a very special effort to appear at GNAW 4. Catch them while you can.

Atragon

Formed in the cold, harsh winter of 2012 over a common disdain for mankind, Atragon worship at the altar of the riff. They desire only to bring about your doom through the powers of distortion, tube amplification & heathen ritual.

Voe

Glasgow-based Voe are a monstrous entity of crushingly heavy sound. Citing the likes of Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Isis and Sunn O))) as some of their influences, Voe combine a number of styles in order to deliver a very unique style of heaviness. This is only their second show in Newcastle but ask anyone who caught them on their first and they will tell you just much they are not to be missed.

Nathalie Stern

After a two year break from performing live, Nathalie Stern recently returned with a much darker sound. Layering up choral vocals and synth drones to create a ritualistic trance.

Waheela (whla)

Formed in 2009, Waheela have been pushing the boundaries of heavy experimental music for five years. Entirely improvised, they draw on a range of influences from noise, metal, blues, krautrock and psychedelia, all of which have made them difficult to define. Their music is very loud and very intense…a great way to begin GNAW 4!
