Our heroine Marina wins a dream holiday… for two. Not having anyone to take, she decides to invite a stranger called Victor. Awkwardness, bottled emotions, solitude, love, sex and romance in a modern city are explored in a slow, dreamy realism. Presented by the Americas Research Group at Newcastle University. This film will be followed by informal discussion - all are welcome to stay.
Ernesto Contreras's critically acclaimed debut feature film won the Special Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. It features music by Ray Davies and exceptional performances by Cecilia Suarez and Enrique Arreola. The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw said of the film, "Impressive… a gem of a film… Cecilia Suarez gives a tremendous performance… blissful… this lovely little film is: a pinsharp cine-poem of romance".
