From the brutality of Zimbabwe to a British detention centre: three young men seek refuge and self-respect.
The story they tell is of their decision to leave Africa and start new lives. It takes us to the Yarlswood Detention Centre in England where Zimbabwean asylum seekers meet. Their experiences in Yarlswood and in Africa bring them together despite tribal conflicts.
“Cry My Zimbabwe”, a theatre performance that was devised by performers with considerable theatrical and musical experience and who have all been, or are, asylum seekers.
This is a high energy play for today and tomorrow: funny, moving, full of truth, experience, and determination to survive with dignity. The play is held together by a web of stunning live music and dance.
