The story begins in medieval Ireland, where 12-year-old Brendan embarks on a daring quest to defend his homeland against Barbarian invasion. To do this, he must find the crystal which will complete the Book of Kells - a legendary illuminated manuscript of the bible. This sets the scene for a magical adventure, during which Brendan must face Vikings and dangerous mythical beasts, while finding his way through an enchanted forest.
