Wed 16 April 2008 // 19:30 / Cinema

Personal testimonies of asylum seekers in the UK, played by Actors for Refugees, a theatre group based in London.

Asylum Monologues

Asylum Monologues is an account of the UK’s asylum system, told first hand by the people who have experienced it.

With personal testimony at its core combined with public opinion, political statements and statistical fact, this production will disseminate what it really means to be displaced in the UK.

Asylum Monologues will be followed by several short films looking at issues surrounding migration and the evening will conclude with live music in the bar.

Actors For Refugees

This project is a collaboration between iceandfire and Actors For Refugees, a new network which aims to use the collective might of UK performers to influence community attitudes toward refugees and asylum seekers and to encourage a humanitarian response to their situation, using Asylum Monologues as their main advocacy tool.

The production was launched on June 25 2006, the culminating day of Refugee Week, at Amnesty International, London.

The event is FREE but non members will need to pay a £1 membership fee.
