An American naval vessel The Abraham Lincoln is damaged after being rammed by a monster of the deep but the crew are rescued by the reclusive Captain Nemo on his submarine The Nautilous.

The first screen version of Jules Verne's classic yarn is also one of the earliest science fiction feature films and the very first example of underwater camerawork thanks to inventors the Williamson brothers, challenging enough today let alone before the invention of SCUBA gear and compact cameras.

Impressively shot with ambitious and hugely expensive special effects, it simplifies the original story but manages to mix in elements from The Mysterious Island also.

Featuring a live score by vintage synthesiser specialist duo Marek Gabrysch & Steve Brown AKA Analogue Synthesis.
