Northern Electric Festival is an annual 2-day electronic music festival spanning multiple venues dedicated to championing electronic music from the North East and beyond. Aiming to provide a platform for emerging and established artists and shine a light on some of the amazing talent in this region. Star and Shadow will be hosting Cauls, Behold a Pale Horse and Bert Verso.

Headlining are Cauls, a 6 piece female fronted alt-prog collective evoking musical titans Tool and The Mars Volta. Expect heavy, angular riffs and drums abounding with confronting grooves as well as swirling synthesisers and ethereal vocals.

Support comes from Behold a Pale Horse, a genre-mashing behemoth of psychedelia, blues, kosmische, electronica and garage rock. Never self indulgent, always amazing, they have been described as "a soul-stirring astral nexus" (Wandering Oak).

Second up are Lightwaves Museum, whose improvised performance explores concepts of space and universal interconnection by infusing trance inducing elements from Sufism, techno, krautrock , afrobeat and fuzzy psychedelia . Expect deep reverberations and swirling echoes pulsing with cyclical rhythms interspersed by voice.

Bert Verso will be opening proceedings. A highly respected DJ, producer and member of Grey Tapes collective, he makes and performs beautifully atmospheric instrumental hip hop beats with sprinklings of post dubstep and garage using his trademark ethereal sound pallet and earthshaking sub bass.
