As volunteers in an organisation which has no boss, we all get to decide how things work at Star and Shadow Cinema Coop. Even if we have only just started. We have organised a session to encourage more involvement in the democratic processes of the Star and Shadow - please come to our open assembly and participatory budgeting session, from 11am-3pm on Saturday 14th March 2020.
Part 1: Open Assembly, 11am-12pm - to collectively learn about and think about our values and the way we work.
- Work in bigger and smaller groups to think about why we work in the way we do, and what matters to people.
- Refresh our memory about working groups, how to share knowledge, and how to get more deeply involved.
- Ask ourselves questions about what we should prioritise (both culturally and as an organisation).
Part 2: Participatory Budgeting, 12.30pm-3pm - to put those values into practice in how we understand the finances and make decisions about money.
- Look at income and expenditure. Understand the operating costs of Star & Shadow, and how S&S covers these costs.
- Look at proposals for allocating money, and use democratic processes for making decisions about spending.
Before the session: If you have a proposal for something you think Star & Shadow Cinema Coop should allocate money towards, please write up a short,
accurately costed description, and email it to
info@starandshadow.org.uk BEFORE the meeting (so we can print it out and put it on the wall for people to consider).
A light lunch will be provided, and a creche for people needing childcare. We need people to RSVP so we know how many to cook for/ provide childcare for. Please email
info@starandshadow.org.uk to say if you are attending.
