TUNE INTO STAR & SHADOW RADIO SATURDAY 9 MAY 4.30 - 11.30 FOR A VERY SPECIAL ALL DAY BROADCAST >>>>

We want to be looking to the future at the new Star & Shadow but as a one off we're gonna take a trip back to 9 May 2009 to the amazing Tyne Bar in Ouseburn.

Road to Rimini was a club night that used to happen at the old Star & Shadow venue on Stepney Bank, it was the first regular club night at the old venue and ran from around 2007 until 2010.

It became a bit of a legend in its own lunchtime playing a weirdo brand of italo disco, Chicago House, West Coast Holland, Detroit Electro, Techno, Hi Nrg and everything in between.

This broadcast is from an impromptu gig that took place at the Tyne Bar in Ouseburn on 9 May 2009 (11 years to the day!). The Road to Rimini lads were friends with an outfit called Heartbreak, who a the time were on a nationwide NME tour with La Roux. They weren't down to play in Newcastle but the planets aligned and a gig was quickly organised as a stop off.

The posters were late and next to zero promotions were done but 100s of folk turned up and it was one of best gigs/parties down in the Ouseburn since the heady days of mid 90s raves.

The Disk Jocking across the day was courtesy of all the Road to Rimini fraternity and the party included live turns from Steve Legget and the merry Tokyo Acid Cru.

It's a raw recording in parts and never broadcast or shared before it's the full day; all 7 hours, as it happened, warts an all.

It includes Cath's sister getting up onto the decks and someone throwing a can and ruining Chris's Linear Movement record but it also includes a properly emotional and amazing performance from Heartbreak (around 4 hours in - 8.30pm).

Buona salute xx
