A celebration of creative projects that never got finished or never made it out into the world. What’s the value to be found in unfinished and private writing, art, and music? What stops us from finishing things off? And what might happen if the pressure to complete projects disappeared?
I’ll be asking my guests to search their bottom drawers and the abandoned corners of their laptops to rediscover secret and incomplete schemes.
My guest today is Mary McGrath. She is a writer.
This year, she was shortlisted for the Mogford Prize for food and drink writing. It was judged by Stephen Fry and Prue Leith.
Mary’s recognition in the prize was for her short story entitled ‘Sup’, which she reads during the programme.
Mary also gives her tips on how to persevere with writing despite setbacks, the benefits of writing for or towards an audience, and the three things she wants readers to take from her work.
Presented by Em Anderson. If you have an unfinished or unpublished project you’d like to talk about, email me at unfinished.unpublished@gmail.com
