Wed 6 January 2021 // 20:00 / None

Tyneside Sounds Society invited people to Remake & Remix at 1967 BBC recording of the first time the Carillon Bells of Newcastle Civic Centre were played publicly.

The original recordings were made on 1/4 analogue tape and digitised by Tyne & Wear Archives as part of the national Unlocking Our Sound Heritage project led by British Library.

The full recordings have never been made publicly available before. TSS invited DJs, producers, musicians, sound artists to download and make something new using only the source recording, no added synthesis or sounds that already exists, with the exception of their own voice.

This show includes the original recordings and the things that people have made.

All the new tracks will be uploaded to the Tyneside Sounds Society soundcloud page after broadcast.
