"Excellent in every way" - BBC6 Music about Louis Barabbas & The Bedlam Six
Whilst relentlessly peddling their peculiar brand of Dirt-Swing Louis Barabbas & The Bedlam Six have captured the imaginations of audiences the world over.
Their infamous live shows are incorporating influences from rock, jazz, folk and theatre and have garnered the praise of everyone from Supergrass to The Hells Angels!
Many believe that the number of love songs in the world far outstrip the numbe...r of things with which one can fall in love. That is why Louis Barabbas & The Bedlam Six are doing their very best to readdress the balance, penning twisted dirt-swing about lust and loathing, served up on an exuberant gobbet of malicious delight.
Stories about grieving lovers, thieving lovers and deceiving lovers seep from their songbook like a putrescent parade of painful parables. It's strangely beautiful - but not very.
Since forming in late 2006 their music has infiltrated almost every creative niche, being adapted into animated short films, burlesque routines, musical theatre, fringe festival revues, documentary soundtracks, motion picture scores and even a comic strip.
Time after time the band has demonstrated that it is at home on any line-up, even sharing the bill with such disparate acts as Motörhead, Sun Ra’s Arkestra and The Blockheads.
PRETTY GREAT REVIEWS
"Excellent in every way: an outfit and a voice that belong in smoke-filled gin-joints where the booze drips off the ceiling and love is left outside" Chris Hawkins BBC 6 music
"Rousing, heart-breaking and foot-stomping in equal measures, [The Bedlam Six] are a swirling, gritty mass of influences and ideas. Their tunes are often barnstorming vaudeville folk brilliance, but their real thrill comes from the interplay between Ali and Louis, who sound like a fist-fight love-in between a long-lost showgirl and a whisky-soaked rambler. Make no mistake, their music is as likely to steal your soul as soothe it." Chris Long - BBC Manchester
"Outstanding" Drowned In Sound
"Louis Barabbas is such a unique talent. His music is intelligent, witty and has a kick to rival any fine liquer. Simply awesome." Chris Holliday, BBC Radio Manchester
"Louis Barabbas and the Bedlam Six are one of the best and unique bands for their music, theatre and entertainment that the UK has produced this century... these guys are heading for stardom without doubt" USA Weekly news
"Absolutely bloody amazing!" Danny Goffey - Supergrass

They perform music in the true spirit of the 1920s/1930s Art Deco era. Original songs from the era and own material written within style.
