This is a Relaxed Screening of "Pride" (15). A Comedy drama about the true story of a group of LGBTQ activists who team up with a Welsh mining town to raise money during the 1984 miners strike. Featuring an all-star cast including Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton and Paddy Considine.

The film has been chosen by Beacon Films programmers as part of a new partnership with Star and Shadow Cinema.

The screening has a BBFC "15" rating. No one under the age of 15 will be allowed into the screening. You may be asked for ID.

Doors open 1.30pm. Film starts at 2pm.

The film will be captioned subtitled.

The screenings will have adjustments to make them more comfortable for more adult audiences who may be autistic, have learning disabilities or additional needs. Anyone is welcome to attend, so long as you are respectful towards audiences with a range of access needs, including people who may need to make a bit of noise or movement during a film.

During the Relaxed Screening:

  • The Lighting will left on low
  • The sound will kept down a bit
  • There is a chill-out space available if you need to take a break
  • You are able to make a bit of noise or movement during the screening if you need to.
  • During the Covid pandemic, we ask you not to move around the cinema once seated, however if you need to stretch your legs you can leave the cinema to use our chill-out space nearby.
  • The screening will not be full of people - there will be plenty of space in the cinema.
  • There will be friendly volunteers on hand to help with anything you might need.
  • Due to sensory sensitivities of some of our guests we do not recommend the screenings for children, particularly those under the age of 2 years old.
  • The film will also be screened with captioned subtitles.

Socially distanced screenings:

Our Relaxed Screenings will be socially distanced and remain so during the pandemic, regardless of changes in government rules. During these screenings:

  • Customers will be seated with a space of 2 metres apart for each party
  • The screening will have a maximum of 25 people in the cinema (the total capacity is 80).
  • There is a one way system around the cinema
  • Hand sanitiser is available around the building which customers are encouraged to use.
  • We advise volunteers and customers to wear face masks, though we respect that some people struggle with these and are exempt
  • There are mens, women's and gender neutral toilet facilities, as well as one accessible toilet in the building.

All seating has step free access.

If you have any questions about access, please email Midnight at midnight@beaconfilms.org.uk

Image description: Picture above is of the poster for the film: "Pride." A bunch of older people (welsh miners) stand smiling against a yellow background. A few younger people in 80's dress are mixed in amongst them. The title "Pride" is above them in large black and white font forming the shape of a loud speaker.
