An exclusive triple bill featuring global cult synth icon Soft Riot alongside Tyneside darkwave industrial duo Vigilance State and synth goth band Holy Braille. 

SOFT RIOT is JJD, a former Vancouverite now residing in Glasgow who has 25 years of musical output in various bands and projects, including first-wave post-punk revivalists Radio Berlin. Moving from Vancouver to London in the late 2000s, Soft Riot came into full being, releasing a couple of acclaimed albums and EPs and staging numerous tours around Europe.

Using an arsenal of synthesizers and effects, Soft Riot’s sound is an amalgamation of JJD’s personal experience with music, containing elements of synth-based film soundtracks, romantic italo-style flourishes, throbbing arpeggiations and angular, psychedelic synth-pop tied together with an underlying tension - a soundscape that narrates the listener through today’s fractured, excessive landscape with hints of black humour.

June’s Star and Shadow gig marks Soft Riot’s Newcastle debut and is not to be missed.

VIGILANCE STATE construct a dissonant dystopian soundscape straight from the northern industrial heartland. This North-East darkwave duo build a synthesis of mournful minimalism and brutalist bass, interwoven with resonant yet aggressive vocals, with foundations in ancient lore, modern legend and impending apocalypse.

Singles include rambunctious debut ‘EDEMM’, the vitriolic ‘Gladness’ Vigilance State - Gladness, which received BBC airplay, and the unforgiving ‘First Class’ Vigilance State - First Class, mastered and endorsed by legendary DMX Krew.

HOLY BRAILLE is a DarkWave soundtrack to Holy life, full of emotional turmoil, stark, dark and CHAV Goth! All tracks are random in electronic sounds and conquer whatever synths are at hand at the time of creation.

The Sunderland based UK duo released debut single 'Murder She Spoke' on Kaneda Records in 2019, followed by 'Bad Taste', 'Heart Braker' and 'ABL3'. Gigging up and down the country, they have been raising rave from the grave ever since.
