Opening our season of films for LGBTQ+ History Month is this cult drag classic!

Important as the first major Hollywood studio movie to centre on drag queens. And starring a transformative Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze and John Leguizamo.

After jointly being crowned New York’s Drag Queen of the Year (by a scene stealing RuPaul!) Noxeema and Vida win a trip to Hollywood to take part in the "Miss Drag Queen of America Pageant" and take along "drag princess" Chi-Chi as their protégé. On their road trip, with a signed photo of Julie Newmar, it’s not long before they break down in small town America causing (and solving) trouble for themselves and the townsfolk all with a homophobic highway Sheriff on their trail!

By Beeban Kidron, director of Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit (and married to Newcastle’s own Lee Hall the screenwriter of Billy Elliot).

(Tickets will also be available on the door)

Dressing up is encouraged but not essential!
