Described by The Guardian as a “Powerful Tyneside Bassist”, John Pope brings his brilliant quintet of Northern improvisers together once again for a very special two-night-stand at beloved DIY arts space the Star & Shadow Cinema. This ensemble of questing spirits present a suite of brand new music, infused with the trademark joie de vivre and anything-goes improvisation that has become their calling-card on the UK jazz scene. And, to add to the sense of occasion, these concerts will be recorded live! With support from Help Musicians, in the form of a development award via the prestigious Peter Whittingham Jazz Awards, this unique two-night performance will go on to become the backbone of the John Pope Quintet’s next full-length release. Come along to The Star & Shadow in Newcastle to celebrate the joy of live music, the excitement of discovery and the heart-feeding creative power of community and togetherness!
