Lotte Reiniger’s epic ‘The Adventures of Prince Achmed’ is the only surviving feature length animation from the ‘silent era.  Lotte Reiniger was a perfectionist whose work focused on the fantastical possibilities of animation.  With her production of ‘The Adventures of Prince Achmed’ she established herself as an inspired female filmmaker/artist on a par with Fritz Lang, Walter Ruttman, Oskar Fishinge.

S!nk are a three piece impro band from Edinburgh who compose music on the spot, realising rough-hewn instrumental explorations which open out into rich landscapes of sound.  Live tracking ‘Prince Achmed’ will be the band’s third such event at the Star and Shadow, having previously cast their musical spell over screenings of ‘L’Age d’Or’ and ‘Nanook of the North’.
