Otto Preminger’s Anatomy of a Murder is based on a novel of the same name by Michigan Supreme Court Justice John D Voelker.  During the 1950’s Preminger directed a number of films such as ‘The Man with the Golden Arm’ (heroine addiction) and Anatomy of a Murder that pushed the Hollywood Production Code into extinction.  ‘Anatomy of a Murder’ centres on rape, infidelity, jealousy wrapped up in a procedural frame.   There are stunning performances from all players – in particular Remick and Steward.  And as a bonus for jazz fans an appearance and great score by Duke Ellington.
