Burmalink UK and Democratic Voice of Burma invite you to experience five short films demonstrating the incredible resilience of the Burmese people in the midst of their decades-long fight against the authoritarian military junta. 

The event will be introduced by Tony Stokle from Burmalink UK and followed by a Q&A. 
Information about each film can be found below. 

Cry for Justice. Running time: 16 mins
A film unveiling Myanmar's human rights crisis. Since the military coup on Feb 1st 2021, peaceful anti-coup protests were violently suppressed by the military junta, which led to a nationwide uprising against the dictatorship.

Rohingya SOS. Running time: 5mins
A short film capturing the pain of almost a million people who were brutally and violently expelled from Myanmar in 2017 by the military junta.

Star. Running time: 16mins
After the military coup in 2021, lecturer Daw Rodi Ong joins the Civil Disobedience Movement and becomes a local journalist. The film follows her life in Kalay and the story of her student who joined the revolution against the military junta.

Interval

The Middle Land of the Displaced. Running time: 17mins
This film documents the two airstrikes which erased a village in Mandalay, forcing families into the Irrawaddy River's islands. The film follows one family's struggle to rebuild their lives among the ruins.

Love and Revolution. Running time: 20 mins
An amputee commander returns to the front lines days after his daughter is born, turning personal sacrifice into a symbol of revolution.
