An evening dedicated to one of Hollywood’s most mesmerising screen presences. Gene Tierney remains a defining figure of 1940s cinema – magnetic, enigmatic, and impossible to look away from. This double-bill pairs two of her greatest performances, showcasing her extraordinary range from dreamlike noir mystery to Technicolor melodrama charged with jealousy and desire.

LAURA (1944)

Otto Preminger’s atmospheric noir invites us into a world of smoky rooms, whispered secrets, and obsessive infatuation. When detective Mark McPherson investigates the apparent murder of Laura Hunt, he finds himself falling in love with the woman in the portrait – a woman who might not be as gone as she seems. Elegant, haunting and sharply written, Laura is a high point of the genre and one of Tierney’s most iconic roles.

LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN (1945)

Tierney shifts into something far more dangerous in John M. Stahl’s Technicolor melodrama. Here she plays Ellen Berent, a woman whose devotion curdles into possessiveness, jealousy and chilling obsession. Beneath the glossy surface lies a story of control and destructive love, anchored by a performance of startling intensity.

Join us for an evening celebrating a true Hollywood legend on the big screen.
