An afternoon of talks and discussions drawing on
recent activism in the region and beyond:

Discussion day 12.30-5.30,
Exhibition Preview and social 6pm,
Film screening 7pm with entertainment afterwards.

12.30-5.30pm - Afternoon discussion sessions:
1. Activism and RepresentationThis session will focus on the rich
tradition of self representation as an aspect of environmental
activism and the changing world of independent media.
2. Why direct action? Activism rarely happens in a vacuum.  In this
session we will unpack the relationships between direct action
and more traditional forms of campaigning
drawing on recent legal cases connected to the Pont Valley
protest.

5.30-6.45pm - Art Exhibition Opening:
Respect Existence or Expect Resistance
An exhibition of video work, photography, zines and banners
reflecting on twenty years of environmental activism including
work related to 90s road protests and from the Campaign to
protect Pont Valley against opencast mining.

7.00-9.00pm - Film:
Tales of Resistance – The Battle of the Newbury Bypass
Documentary directed by Jamie Lowe 98 mins.
Telling the story of the 1996 battle to stop the building of the
Newbury bypass from the activists point of view created from
hundreds of hours of footage and contemporary interviews.

9pm-onwards - Music: 
Stick in the Wheel - Attendance at the forum gets you access to the film and the gig - London's finest agit-folk outfit Stick in the Wheel with support from Cath and Phil Tyler.
