Showbiz!

A new night of variety entertainment and performance art

-
Fri 22 November // 19:30 / Venue Space

Tickets: Main £7, concession £5, in Solidarity £10

A new variety entertainment and performance art night inspired by the 1980s Alternative comedy scene, Victorian Music Hall, and Pheonix Nights. Hosted by performance artist Liberty Hodes.

The first ever Showbiz! Event will feature:

Rosa Postlethwaite - Newcastle's most confused Elvis Impersonator

Rosa is a performance artist interested in shaking things up. After a priestess on the internet said that their sacral chakra was blocked due to a bad man, they started looking for pelvic inspiration and fell into a relationship with another bad man, Elvis. (The priestess has since disappeared from the internet). Part sincere impersonation, part queer reimagining, FULL THRUST.

D. Sunshine Droning - Grooving One Man Band plus Special Guest Dance Star

“One beat, one note, one hell of a boogie”

Spit (once more)  into the mouth of death with Arnold T Nosebag

Bare witness to the death defying escapades of Arnold T Nosebag, straight out of 1980’s London’s Alternative comedy scene. After awaking from a 40 year coma, he is ready to jump back into his signature reckless mischief and spit, once more, into the mouth of death.

Appy

Appy is the world’s first living and breathing pea. Appy is the brainchild of Performance Artist Zoe Kendall, who is part of the PerHaps Now performance collective based at The NewBridge Project.

Elaine Robertson

Freshly returned from her excellent Edinburgh Fringe smash hit ‘Delulu’, Elaine Robertson is one of the most talented comedians around!

ShowBiz! will be hosted by: Liberty Hodes

Liberty Hodes is an Artist and Performance Maker with an extreme passion for Live Entertainment. Cutting their teeth in London’s alternative comedy scene, they are interested and well practiced in all manners of spectacle, stagecraft, and the ways that traditional entertainment has brought people together through time. Their new performance work, Digger Dance, will debut at this event.
